Borderlands port forwarding
It seems there is some serious drama in getting the multiplayer working at the moment. As its still early, no one is really sure where the problem lies, but one possible 'weak link' is the GameSpy network. One workaround that seems to have more success, is to create a single player game, and then invite players to your game that way.
The ports that are recommended to be forwarded are (honestly, who has to forward ports for games these days?):
7777 (TCP/UDP)
28900 (TCP)
27900 (UDP)
28910 (TCP)
6500 (UDP) (GameSpy)

ini Tweaks
It seems some clever people have already found some handy ini tweaks. Disabling those annoying startup movies, turning off mouse smoothing and adjusting weapon bob, to name a few. The top post has most of the information, with the 6th post down having some corrections. Enjoy!
